Jenny, CD(DONA), PCD(DONA), CLC

Certified Birth Doula, Certified Postpartum Doula, Certified Lactation Counselor

Jenny's interest in supporting birthing people goes back many years. While living in California in the mid-1990s, she acted as a labor companion for a pair of close friends who were expecting their first child and found the experience incredibly powerful and uplifting. It literally changed her life, and pursuing a career in birth support became a long-harbored dream of hers.

Her own son’s birth in 2005 added a completely different perspective to her experience. After a bout with breast cancer and struggling with infertility, she eventually got pregnant with the help of a medicated IUI and went on to have a mostly complication-free pregnancy. Unfortunately, once she and her partner found themselves in the labor and delivery room, they faced questions for which they had no answers. Her son was born vaginally, with no complications, but her experience of his birth left her feeling frustrated and unhappy with herself and her choices. She realized the critical importance of in-depth prenatal education, a plan to cope with labor, and strong perinatal support, especially for first-time parents. This strengthened her resolve to help others avoid the same situation.

In 2017, Jenny finally made the decision to put her long-standing career as a graphic designer on the back burner and take the plunge to become a birth doula. While she was excited about the chance to finally put her dream into action, it wasn’t until she had finished her training and joined the doula community that she truly understood the passion she has for birthwork. It is a calling in the truest sense of the word, and she is beyond grateful to have the opportunity to engage in such meaningful work.

When she’s not supporting her perinatal clients, Jenny is an independent book designer. She also enjoys kayaking the beautiful lakes and rivers near her home, knitting, exploring the history of New England, and gardening.

What are clients saying…

If you’re thinking of hiring Jenny as your doula, don’t hesitate! After one conversation with her, we knew she was the perfect professional to help us with our first baby.

What stood out about Jenny is her kindness, professionalism, and practicality. She’s extremely knowledgeable and helpful, but she’s always compassionate and truly wants what’s best for her clients. She was so helpful when it came to both the logistical and psychological aspects of birth. We ended up welcoming our first baby in December of 2024, and the birth ended up going even better than I planned!

What I didn’t expect was how much support we received postpartum. Even after our baby was born, Jenny has been our biggest help and cheerleader through the fourth trimester.

Honestly, I couldn’t imagine going through all this without Jenny. If you’re on the fence about hiring her, don’t wait. It’s one of the best investments we’ve made for our baby, our family, and ourselves!

Hiring Jenny as our birth and postpartum doula was one of the best decisions my husband and I made when planning for the arrival of our first child. Right from the start, we felt very comfortable with Jenny because of her calm and reassuring demeanor. She is very experienced and knowledgeable, and she provided lots of resources to help answer our many questions and make the right decisions for us. I was hoping to try for a natural labor but ended up getting an epidural at 7cm after many hours of back labor. My pushing phase was also long and we ended up needing to use vacuum extraction. We were so grateful to have Jenny’s nonjudgmental support throughout the whole process. In the first month after our daughter was born, she also helped us once a week with baby care and small tasks at home. We would highly recommend her!
