Ashley Neven from Saltwater Doula is a very skilled, nurturing, trustworthy, and compassionate postpartum doula. I highly recommend her to any family that needs a calm, intuitive, and warm presence in their home as they settle into life with a new baby. She started working with us when my son was ~4 weeks old and I was dealing with intense postpartum anxiety and depression due to a traumatic birth. When Ashley stepped into our home, I immediately felt at ease handing my newborn over to her so that I could get some much needed sleep to help give my anxious brain a rest. Not only did she support me with napping, she was also critical to helping us stay disciplined with his nap schedule from the early months when she would wear him in the carrier to sleep, all the way up until we sleep trained him and transitioned him to the crib for naps. Ashley helped us stay on top of the endless loads of laundry, dishes, and even helped with some meal prep work for myself, my 7 year old daughter, and my baby when he started solids. Throughout the 6 months that she spent with our family, she consistently did a careful job to check in with us at the start of every shift about our goals and any changes to my baby’s development or schedule. Every time that Ashley was with us, it was so heartwarming to see my son smile at her and to hear his giggles from the other room when they played together. In the beginning when Ashley started working with us, I was physically, mentally, and emotionally depleted, but there were so many days where just having her presence in the home felt like it was a balm for the soul as I was on my healing journey and adapting to having my new baby. We’re so grateful to Ashley for providing her time and love to our family and helping us create a harmonious balance in our home.
